WHAT IS ESPORTS?
Esports is organised competitive gaming, where individuals or teams compete in different video game titles under a specific set of rules. Like traditional sports, it involves players, coaches, analysts, referees, event organisers, production crews, commentators and fans. Competitions can range from local tournaments to major international events watched online or in live venues.
Esports players compete at a high level in video games by taking part in organised tournaments. Professional players may follow structured training routines similar to those of traditional athletes and can gain recognition, prize money and sponsorships through their skills and performance.
HOW AN ESPORTS TOURNAMENT WORKs
Players or teams enter a league or tournament.
All teams and players compete under specific rules set by tournament organisers.
A match may include multiple rounds or maps (for example, this could be a best of five rounds across three different maps).
The winning team is often the one who wins the most rounds, achieves the game objectives, or scores the most points.
The best performing team or player wins the tournament, or the league premiership / championship.
